Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in the Supplement to the London Gazette dated 25 April 1941.

The recommendation/citation reads, "This warrant officer commanded the troop of 155 Lt AA Battery which accompanied 4th Raj. Rifles column in the attack on Tumar East on 9 December 1940. When the column was counter attacked in the flanks by infantry in AFV's he showed the utmost initiative, resource and courage in the face of heavy machine gun fire in bringing his section immediately into action. When this advancing infantry observed his sights he brought fire to bear on enemy infantry who were holding up the advance on the left front. Later he brought his LMG into action. His prompt action undoubtedly helped to speed up the complete surrender of the enemy and saved many casuaties".
