The Burnley Express of 24 February 1945 reported: -

ROLL OF HONOUR
WESTERN FRONT CASUALTY

Corporal Wilfred Watson, whose wife and son live at 9, Arran Street, Burnley, has been killed in action in Western Europe. He joined the Pioneers Corps five years ago, and had served in Norway and Iceland before going to France shortly after D-Day. Corporal Watson was formerly a bus conductor in the employment of the Ribble Motor Services, Ltd. His mother resides at 28, Claughton Street, Burnley.

Buried in the Schoonselhof Cemetery, Antwerp, Belgium.

The Cemetery register records he was 37 years of age, the son of William and Agnes Holmes Watson, and husband of Lily Watson of Burnley, Lancashire.
