Lieutenant James Wilson Harvie,
Royal Marines
The Burnley Express of 17 February 1945 p7 reported that:
AWARDED D.S.C.
Lieut. J. W. Harvie, Royal Marines, whose wife and two
children live at 19, Lydia Street, Burnley, has been awarded the D.S.C.
for his part in the landings on Walcheren.
Lieut. Harvie has been in the Service four years and has held commissioned
rank nearly three years. He is an old boy of the Grammar School and before
joining the R.M. he was a commercial traveller employed by W. Briggs and
Co. of Salford.
In January, in the B.B.C. Home Services, Lieut. Harvie described the landings
in which one of his men also gained the D.S.M.
