Sub-Lieutenant Harry CHADWICK. Royal Navy (HMS Activity) Awarded the Distinguished Service Cross in the Supplement to the London Gazette of 12 July 1944, for, "Undaunted skill and devotion to duty whilst serving on HMS Activity in the escort of convoys to and from North Russia in the face of determined attacks by German U Boats". Chadwick flew Swordfish aircraft throughout the war. See the Burnley Express of 5 August 1944 for a report on the action for which he won the Distinguished Service Cross.
